{"id":887,"date":"2010-03-13T14:32:25","date_gmt":"2010-03-13T22:32:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/backyardbirdcam.com\/birdblog\/?p=887"},"modified":"2010-03-13T14:32:25","modified_gmt":"2010-03-13T22:32:25","slug":"harriss-sparrow-a-winter-favorite","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.backyardbirdcam.com\/birdblog\/harriss-sparrow-a-winter-favorite\/","title":{"rendered":"Harris&#039;s Sparrow &#8211; a Winter Favorite"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Can you believe that when people think of Oklahoma, they often think it&#8217;s the armpit of the country&#8230; or at least close to that?!!#$\u00a0\u00a0 (It doesn&#8217;t help that the state&#8217;s two senators are&#8230; well, who they are!)<\/p>\n<p>But when birders around the country think of Oklahoma, they have a much more favorable impression &#8212; because we have several birds that are hard to find elsewhere.\u00a0 In the summer, we count on showing visiting birders the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher (state bird), Mississippi Kite and the very rare Black-capped Vireo (more on this bird in upcoming posts).<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_888\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/backyardbirdcam.com\/birdblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/sparrow-harris3-6-10.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-888\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-888\" title=\"sparrow-harris3-6-10\" src=\"http:\/\/backyardbirdcam.com\/birdblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/sparrow-harris3-6-10.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"314\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-888\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Harris&#39;s Sparrow<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Since we&#8217;re almost through with winter, I wanted to show off a bird that is often &#8220;top of the wish list&#8221; for visiting winter birders: the Harris&#8217;s Sparrow.\u00a0 What&#8217;s great is that these sparrows are plentiful in winter, easy to find, and visit backyard feeders.
